1x Uprated Poly Rear Differential Mount To Suit All Ford Sierras and also the Escort Cosworth
CNC machined from a single peice of billet alloy without a single weld in sight, all perfectly straight (no weld distortion), fully hard anodised in motorsport black, 2 piece HDPE sleeve bush as used in WRC suspension and complete with countersunk back plate to avoid the ARB clash that some mounts exhibit on certain cars. UK manufactured and suppoorted.
This differential mount fits the following vehicles:
All Ford Sierras (XR4i, XR4x4, RS Cosworth, RS500, including Sapphires) Merkur XR4Ti Escort Cosworth Along with the rear beam mount bushings, the differential mount is the most important bushing to upgrade on the car. Unfortunately, it is also the most overlooked bushing to replace. A weak differential mount causes a whole slew of issues that aren't necessarily transparent to the driver. First of all, the ride height of the car sags as the mount ages.
Basically , the chassis, which pushes down on the differential mount, ends up sitting closer to the differential case and the beam since the differential mount lacks compressive strength.
Additionally , the weak rubber of the mount allows the subframe to move around, which causes the rear end of the car to feel squishy and slow to respond. This problem isn't limited to merely ruining the experience for the driver though. A subframe that moves with respect to the chassis creates significant toe changes that tremendously decrease handling grip and straight line grip.
Besides the loss of grip and loss of driver confidence, the motion of the subframe also allows the rear tires to contact the wheel wells in hard corners when wider-than-stock wheels are fitted.
By the way, ALL originally-installed differential mounts are weak regardless of mileage! It is our opinion that even brand new Ford differential mounts are too weak to use on any vehicle that isn't being restored for showing at a Concours d'Elegance.
In the past , we were able to purchase Group N differential mounts for exorbitant amounts of money to solve the problem of the weak differential mount. Sadly, the manufacturing of the Group N diff mount has ceased, and those mounts are no longer available. Fortunately, this beautiful mount duplicates the performance of the Group N part, but it greatly improves upon the execution.
To begin , this mount is lighter than the Group N part despite it's beefy construction. Furthermore, and this is really exciting, the polyurethane bushings are easily replaced. When a Ford differential mount goes bad, you throw it away and purchase a whole new mount for large amounts of cash. When the polyurethane in this differential mount goes bad, you pop in new bushings at about 1/6th the cost of a new Ford mount.
This mount will greatly improve the feel and responsiveness of the rear end of your car, increasing both lateral and straight-line grip, and will certainly be one of the sweetest looking parts you will ever purchase for your car. With the polyurethane isolating the chassis from the differential, you won't have to worry about feeling any vibes, either. This mount is suitable for all applications from daily drivers to race cars.
This Item far exceeds all its competition that we have seen and tested.
Beware of cheaper items that create a lot of noise in the car and in some cases even align the beam slightly too low due to bad design, thus causing more problems than it cures! Be carefull out there!
