Knowing that this is a serviceable part that will need emptying on occasion (time period will vary depending on use) we wanted to make it as user friendly as possible. This thought process is what led to us incorporating both the drain tap and dipstick, after various versions being trialled, we are very pleased with the simple yet effective solution. Using the 35+ years of inherent knowledge within the business we worked on how to combine a presentable and tidy aesthetic with functionality and reliability. This resulted in a lines made up of an anti-static, smooth, fuel resistant, nitrile rubber inner tube and a reinforced, stainless steel, black, wire braided outer cover. The outer layer pf the stainless steel comprises of a partial inner braid and a fuller outer braid, meaning it will not be effected by vacuum collapse or pressure expansion. The allowing for the catch can to perform at its best required the braided lines to be near components of the engine that are considerably warm when the car is running. We overcome this by sourcing a heat resistant cover and positioning it to have the greatest possible protection. This not only means the entire kit will function within a clearly defined temperature range -54°C to +150°C (-65°F to +300°F), but it also allows for the engine cover to remain in place after installation, instead of having to remove it permanently.

Forge Oil Catch Tank System for 2.0 Litre FSi Vehicles Without Charcoal Filter

Excess crankcase pressure is vented from the crankcase through the PCV system, where it is drawn into the intake manifold and returned by the engine. This recirculated air contains aerated oil from the crankcase which is burned by the engine. Turbo charged engines often draw significant amounts of oil into the engine through the PCV system. This oil catch tank system removes aerated oil so that it can be drained and recycled. The kit is suitable for intallation to the 2 litre FSi engines such as in the VW MK5 Golf , MK5 Golf Edition 30 and SEAT Leon Cupra (not for engine codes CCTA CBFA).Depending on geographic location certain models listed in the compatible vehicles drop down menu are fitted with a charcoal filter to meet local emissions regulations. The filter is located at the front of the engine bay (on the left as you open the bonnet); also see black plastic canister in the engine bay image shown above. Here we present FMCT5, a twin catch can and coolant expansion tank system for the Hyundai i30N, Veloster N, and Kona N. This design has been subject to a vast amount of development and is a one of a kind product in the marketplace. This part has been developed in conjunction with our work on the BTCC championship winning Hyundai i30N's - read more hereThe FMCT5 is a direct replacement for the OE coolant expansion tank. The CAD laser cut alloy construction is skilfully welded at Forge UK HQ. The expansion tank has a level indicator inside the filler neck, to make topping up easier, we have also machined a cap cover that slots over the top of the OEM cap to add to the premium look.The twin catch can system is the definitive solution to effectively reduce sludge and carbon build up, in turn allowing the engine to both breathe and perform more efficiently. It can therefore be viewed as a genuine performance enhancing product and one, we recommend, particularly if you are planning more advanced power tuning in the future. Our system filters both PCV and intake breather systems to help keep your engine clean from harmful contaminants, including oil deposits, unused fuel vapours and moisture, which would ordinarily make their way back through to the inlet of the engine. All of this is now collected in the catch cans.There is a dip stick for each tank to measure the amount of deposit caught, this opening can also be used to pump out the captured contaminants or alternately you can use the drain plugs at the bottom of the tanks.As with all Forge Motorsport products we have used superior braided hoses which are internally constructed from anti-static smooth fuel resistant nitrile rubber. This is combined with an outer cover made from reinforced stainless-steel wire braid (a Forge specialty), specifically a partial inner braid and a full cover outer braid. We developed this complex arrangement in order for the tank to be resistant to both pressure expansion and vacuum collapse, and also to enable the kit to function within a clearly defined temperature range 54°C to +150°C (-65°F to 300°F).FMCT5 has now been developed to be compatible with Hyundai Veloster N and Kona N, as well as still fitting the i30N Mk3, and Mk3.5 (facelift).
